Welcome to Lake Posabina

Lake Posabina is situated about 2km off the main road from Sofia to Popovo just past the village of Kovachevets. This is about a 3 hour drive from Sofia airport or 2 hours from Varna airport (154 Km ). The drive from Sofia takes you through the historic Veliko Tarnovo and the lake is about 50km from this ancient town.
Lake Posabina is situated in peaceful scenic surroundings and is a well established carp lake. Originally built in the early 60s as a 70 dectare reservoir for the local village of Posabina, it has been fished ever since. The lake is fed by one large stream and two small natural springs; two inlets can be found on the far side and one on the right side.
The lake is stocked with carp, silver fish and the challenging tolstolob. Species include common carp, mirror carp, grass carp, crucian carp, cat fish, roach, tolstolob and small numbers of a few other species. At the end of each year the stock is checked and replaced as necessary. Zander are due to be restocked in 2012.
Because the lake is a private fishery it is open all year so you are not limited to fishing during the summer months. Fishing permits are not required for private lakes, but if you decide to try one of the close by public lakes we can arrange a permit for you ( cost 26 lev ).
Lake Posabina has on site facilities which include toilet, shower and bunk rooms. There is also limited space for tents. The site shop stocks basic foods, drinks and tackle and is staffed by English speaking assistants, and 24 hour security ensures that there is always a member of staff close by should you need them. Lake Posabina takes pride in being family friendly.
If you want to venture further afield, the local villages of Posabina and Kovachevets are a 5min drive away and have shops and bars. The nearest big town ( Popovo ) is 6km from the lake and boasts 3 tackle shops among its many attractions.
This all adds up to making Lake Posabina the ideal fishing venue for all holidaying anglers young or old.
